Vernada was born and raised in Washington, D.C. and as a second generation Washingtonian, is very active in the community. She is an annual financial supporter of The 105 Voices of History Historically Black Colleges and Universities National Concert Choir, Maryland State Director for the Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant and a Judge for the Howard University School of Communication Business Plan Competition.
